La Empresa Nacional de Transmisión Eléctrica (ENATREL), informa el inició de construcción de la nueva Subestación Ticuentepe I, ubicada en el km 17.5 de la carretera hacia Masaya.
Esta nueva subestación será encapsulada y es la primera en su tipo en Nicaragua, lo que implica que la mayoría de equipos de patio se ubicarán en un edificio que fue diseñado con este fin; lo que se traduce en un ahorro de espacio físico y mayor seguridad.
Los avances en las obras civiles corresponden a la construcción del muro perimetral y fachada, base del transformador e inicio de cimentación del edificio de control.
En Latinoamérica, la Subestación Ticuantepe I, es la quinta en su tipo: compacta, moderna y encapsulada; estará conectada en 138 kV con las Subestaciones Ticuantepe II y Carlos Fonseca.
Con la entrada en operación de Ticuantepe I, se garantizará el suministro eléctrico de familias e industrias asentadas en la zona, también el abastecimiento de agua potable, ya que se construirá un circuito exclusivo para abastecer pozos de la Empresa Nicaragüense de Acueductos y Alcantarillados (ENACAL).
La inversión asciende a US$ 6.7 millones, provenientes de financiamiento del Kexim Bank de Corea del Sur y Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID), una contrapartida local.
